An Intuitive Art Retreat For

Women Facilitated by Sandy Van Herberghen

Have you always wanted to paint but lacked the confidence?

Are you not sure how to start?

Is a white canvas daunting?

Do you like bright vibrant colours?

Then join us for this fabulous, fun, creative girls getaway, a week of exploring Bali’s culture, delicious food, massages, painting workshops, play, meditation, sunset cocktails, swimming, laughter and much more ….

There are no pre-requisites for this retreat. No artistic ability required. This is for anyone who wants to experience the art and culture of Bali in a fun and supportive way, whilst in the company of like minded women. Perfect for first time painters or those wishing to bring a new perspective to their art. Be inspired there are no mistakes.

Intuitive Painting

I call it Intuitive Painting because we will be painting from the heart, we let go of the idea that it needs to ‘look‘ a certain way, we let go of worrying what people think or that we can only draw a stick figure. Instead we paint instinctively, we do what feels good, we play with colour and contrast experimenting with being spontaneous. During these workshops you will be guided by exercises and techniques that are fun and full of possibilities. How to use warm and cool colours, transparent paints, dripping, stamping, stencils and experimenting with different tools. Loosen up, release expectations and welcome the joy of painting.

The Place

The mere mention of Bali evokes thoughts of a paradise. It’s more than a place; it’s a mood, an aspiration, a tropical state of mind.

Island of the Gods

The rich and diverse culture of Bali plays out at all levels of life, from the exquisite flower-petal offerings placed everywhere, to the processions of joyfully garbed locals, shutting down major roads as they march to one of the myriad temple ceremonies, to the otherworldly traditional music and dance performed island-wide. Almost everything has spiritual meaning. The middle of Bali is dominated by the dramatic volcanoes of the central mountains and hillside temples such as Pura Luhur Batukau (one of the island’s estimated 10,000 temples), while the tallest peak, Gunung Agung, is the island’s spiritual centre. To start our retreat we drive over this amazing volcanic area to the North of Bali and the delightful Poinciana Resort and Retreat Centre.

The land on the other side, that’s north Bali. Although one-sixth of the island’s population lives here, this vast region is overlooked by many visitors who stay trapped in the south Bali−Ubud axis. The big draw here is the incredible diving and snorkelling, a sleepy beach strip with cheerful hotels and sunset cocktails. A little bit inland you’ll find quiet treks to waterfalls.

All meals on this retreat are sourced from local produce and are totally delicious. You can have a choice of vegetarian, fish or chicken. 1 lunch is self pay, all other meals are included.

The Space

Poinciana Resort and Retreat Centre

Poinciana seaside resort strives to provide a balance of modern comfort with nature, tradition and style in harmony with the incredible beauty and traditional village life for which Northern Bali is well known. The small size and seclusion gives an intimate feel and an atmosphere of peace and tranquility… the perfect place to relax.

Just a 3 hour drive from Denpasar airport and a world away from the hustle and traffic of the South and Ubud, set on the edge of the Bali Sea against a backdrop of scenic mountain ranges, surrounded by small villages and local farms.

Relax by one of the two swimming pools, or while away the hours snorkeling among the coral reefs out front of the resort. Paddle around in our kayaks, or try the massages and beauty treatments offered in the Srimani Spa.

Experience stunning sunrises and sunsets over the sea and fall asleep to soft, rolling waves. We will dine and paint on the terrace overlooking the ocean.

*Rooms included in this retreat are located around one of the resorts swimming pools.
